Meditation is an ancient art form that transcends time. It is used not only as a tool for relaxation, but also by many as a way to connect to spirit. The term universal means all. The universe, though it is difficult to fathom, is the existence of everything all at once. There is no concept of time or space. Meditation is a peaceful, tranquil trance-like state in which you can send and receive energy from all sources of the universe. Some people prefer to tune into their body using Chakra energy to help attain a deep sense of relaxation and healing. Others use the meditative state to follow the symbolic silver cord as their connection to communicate with or receive messages from spirit.
For me, meditation has come only recently, within the past year, as a part of my spiritual journey. It has been something I have had to work at to achieve. Deep cleansing breaths and peaceful music or nature sounds can help make the practice of meditation easier. I like sounds of the ocean, or running water. I have also used guided meditations found on iTunes which I can download right onto my ipod. My favorite guided meditations are by Doreen Virtue. She has a relaxing and comforting voice. I have used her morning and evening meditations as well as her healing and Angel meditations.
Having something to focus on can also help, like a burning candle flame, or concentrating on a specific color when your eyes are closed. For me the indigo color is always prominent when I close my eyes. When I focus on the indigo color and concentrate on the “third-eye” spot on my forehead that is when I get the strongest connection and the messages seem to flow more freely.
Meditation can take you to any point in the universe whether it is a destination on the earth plane, or on another realm or plane of existence. I have used meditation to tune into the fairy realm and was treated to a spectacular color show of vivid flowers and trees and small sylphs flying and maintaining the gardens. It was really quite amazing. I also had the opportunity to tunnel very briefly under the earth and visit some gnomes.
Meditation is best achieved either first thing in the morning, or in the evening before bed time, or both. It is best to meditate in a comfortable spot usually in the seated position. Lying down in a state of such deep relaxation tends to put me to sleep. I also do not meditate immediately after eating. Meditation takes whole body and mind concentration so it’s always best to practice when you know you won’t be disturbed.
